Abstract

Wheels with balancing means.- Wheels for high speed automobiles are e balanced for rotation to prevent wobble and liability of accidents due to consequent bad steering. The valve and cap 3 are balanced by similar bolts and caps 7, 5 secured to the rim at distances of 120‹ from the valve, the bolts 7 being adapted to receive adjustable lead nuts 9 for regulating the state of balance. The valve stem 8 and compensators may be combined with hollow bridges, 15, 16 disposed in the well base and secured by the valve stem and compensating bolts 17, the tops of the bridges coming level with the top of the well base. These bridges prevent the tyre from coming off when deflated due to punctures. To remove the tyre the bridge 16 at the valve is raised and the edge of the tyre is pushed into the well at this point so that the side of the tyre diametrically opposite to the valve can be removed.
