Abstract

282,685. Kastner, R. Dec. 24, 1926, [Convention date]. Wire cloths.-In metallic cloths for papermaking machines, .greater fiexibilty is obtained, and wear of the cloth is reduced by the use of a double or multiple weft b<1>, Fig. 4, with a single warp a', the two or more wefts being in contact in the weave. The same effect can be obtained by the use of wefts b, Figs. 2, 3, of flat or oval cross section. Metallic cloths so produced are thinner in a fabric having the same weight per unit area as that of a single weft fabric, also the longitudinal flexibility is greater. The seam of endless fabrics made therefrom mav be strengthened by using weft wires of larger diameter on either side of the seam.
