Abstract

282,684. Hohenzollern Akt.-Ges. f³r Lokomotivbau. Dec. 21, 1926, [Convention date]. Clutches, friction.-In friction clutches actuated by pneumatic pressure, the air chamber is formed by a tubular corrugated diaphragm N, extending between a dished plate K, attached to the revoluble clutch drum C, and the coned presser-plate J, which slides and rotates freely in a bore of the shaft A, whereon is rigidly secured a hub B. The plate J is guided by spaced bearings 0, P and has notched engagement, with a part H of the drum C. The, expansible tube N serves also as a retracting-spring. Pressure air is admitted through a stationary tube L, formed with a labyrinth packing in an extended bore of the plate K and centred therein,by separate bearings M. Clutch discs D1, D2 are splined respectively to the hub B and drum C, the discs D1 having inserts D3, between which cooling-air circulates centrifugally, this air passing through apertures in the plates K, J to large channels Q formed between T-section ribs R on the hub B, and being expelled through holes S in the drum C.
