Abstract
282,504. Smith, W. S., Garnett, H. J., and Holden, J. A. Sept. 25, 1926. Loaded cables; cables and conductors, processes for making.-In the manufacture of loaded conductors, the loading wire or tape is spaced from the conductor by wire or the like fusible at a temperature not exceeding the annealing temperture. The spacing wire is such as will not, on fusing, injure or embrittle the conductor, an alloy suitable for this purpose being one comprising 60 per cent silver and 40 per cent copper. The diameter of the wire, which may be laid in a straight line along the conductor, may be 0.002 inch. The loading strip is preferably slightly oxidised to prevent it sticking to the spacing wire during annealing.
