Automatic speed control.-A device for applying a brake to a wheel on one side of a vehicle by the deflation or bursting of the tyre of a wheel on the other side comprises a lever a pivoted on the vehicle against the tyre and connected by a rod i to a pinion g slidably keyed to a shaft k<1> carrying an arm k connected to the brake. Deflation of the tyre brings it into contact with the lever and thus causes it to slide the pinion g into engagement with the rack portion m of a vertically slidable rod e the upward movement of which effected by contact with the ground then turns the pinion and applies the brake. The movement of the lever may be transmitted also by electric or pneumatic devices.
