Abstract
282,031. Zwicky, G. Dec. 13, 1926, [Convention date]. Refrigerating, compression machines for.- The evaporator comprises a rectifier 8, having refrigerant inlet and outlet pipes 1, 9, and flat evaporator elements 5, the walls of which are connected by spot-welding. The plate elements communicate with the rectifier and are interconnected by a pipe 11. In operation, the liquid refrigerant flows through the slots 2 in the pipe 1 and the perforations 4 in the rectifier into the evaporator elements from which the vapour is withdrawn through the pipe 9 by the compressor. Liquid refrigerant entrained by the vapour is separated therefrom and returned to the evaporator elements through the perforations 10 in the rectifier. In a modification, the liquid refrigerant is supplied to the connecting pipe 11 and the pipe 1 is dispensed with.
