Abstract

281,217. Breton, P. Nov. 25, 1926, [Convention date]. Addition to 271,152. Floors, cleaning.-The container 1 of a vacuum cleaning and washing device as described in the parent Specification is formed from sheet metal and is substantially of cylindrical form but with flattened portions at the front and base, as shown, its axis being horizontal and at rightangles to the direction of movement of the device during use. To reduce the agitation of liquid in the container when the device is being used, one or more partitions 43, which may be apertured, are provided. Liquid, which is sucked up from the floor or other surface being treated, is drawn into the container through a slot 34 and a tube 4, and is filtered by means of a sheath d of filtering material. The sheath surrounds a perforated tube a which is carried by a perforated stopper b. The supply of liquid through the stopper and through the brush 36 is controlled by a spring-pressed valve g connected by rods h, h<1> to an actuating lever j. The handle i<1> of the device is connected to the container by a bayonet joint, the arrangement being such that the locking of the handle causes the end of the rod h<1> to engage with the top of the rod h.
