Abstract

281,187. Steinmetz, J. A. June 27, 1927. Anchoring; landing places. -An airships is provided with a nose fitting comprising a pair of guide arms 15 and a pivoted member 16 for engaging a cable 11 supported vertically by a balloon. When the cable has been engaged it is wound in by a winch to bring the ship to ground or to a mooring tower, the member 16 gripping the cable automatically or by manual control of the handle 18. When the ship is finally moored the cable is slacked off to disengage it from the nose fitting. The balloon, which may be above the level of ground fogs, carries light signals.
