Chemicals; portable pressure reservoirs. - A method of extinguishing fires consists in mixing liquid carbon-dioxide and liquid carbon-tetrachloride and opening an outlet so that the mixture escapes, the expansion of the carbon dioxide resulting in the formation of a solid snow-like mixture of the carbon-dioxide and carbon tetracholride, which is projected on the fire. The solid crystals commence to form at 5‹ C. A valve having concentric inlets for the liquids may be employed both for mixing the carbon dioxide with the carbon-tetrachloride and for projecting the mixture.
