Vermin-destroying compositions, sheep dips, and the like.-Concentrated self-contained insecticides containing water-insoluble active plant extracts, such as Derris extract, are produced by dissolving such extracts in a phenolic body or suitable solvent, adding the solution to a hydrocarbon oil or mixture of hydrocarbon oils. and emulsifying the whole. If desired, the solution of the extract in a phenol &c. is added to an emulsion or saponaceous solution of a hydrocarbon oil or oils. The mixture or emulsion produced in each case necessitates only simple admixture with water to form a spraying solution. The term " hydrocarbon oil " includes oils obtained from the distillation of plant produces such as wood. As an example, cresylic acid and medium lubrication oil fraction of American petroleum are added to the extract and the whole is emulsified.
