Abstract

280,118. Sch÷ttle, R. May 23, 1927. Vacuum-cleaners. -An electricallyactuated vacuum cleaner is provided with detachable fittings for connecting a flexible shaft or other driving-gear to the motor, to operate brushes or other domestic appliances located outside the casing. The motor 8 carrying a detachable fan 9 is located in a twopart casing at one end. At the other end a flexible shaft 10 is connected to the shaft 7 by a coupling 10<1> which is connected to the motor shaft by a bayonet-jointed socket 11. In a modification, where reduction gear is employed the sockets 15<1>, Fig. 3, either of which may be coupled to the motor shaft, are mounted on a shaft 15 working in a box 16 and worm geared to the shaft 7 to which the appliance may be secured. In an arrangement of this character, a suction pipe connected to the dust chamber may be employed to carry off the dust raised by the brush.
