Abstract

910,399. Cleaning walls, doors, &c. SCHWERTL, O. Sept. 23, 1960 [Sept. 25, 1959; Aug. 24, 1960], No. 32803/60. Class 138 (1). [Also in Group XXVIII] An appliance for removing paint from doors or wallpaper or paint from walls comprises a rotary brush 17, Fig. 3, partly covered by a housing 14 connected by a suction hose 5, Figs. 1 and 2, to an exhauster 4 containing filters 2, 3 for receiving the dust, and lateral members 21 pivoted to the brush shaft 15 extend from the housing 14 for engagement with the surface to be cleaned, against which they are pressed by a spring 22 during operation of the appliance. The brush may be mounted on the rotor of an electric motor having a stator within the rotor, or the brush may be rotated by a separate electric motor mounted within the housing 14. The supply cable 6 for the motors driving, respectively, the brush and the exhauster incorporates dual-control switches 10, 11 both of which control the two motors. In an alternative embodiment the lateral members 21 are replaced by a resilient tubular corrugated member extending from the housing 14 to enclose the rotary brush.
