Abstract

1,080,298. Suction cleaners. E. FABER, R. D. HAHN, H. HAHN and B. WORWAG [trading as MAUZ & PFEIFFER]. Jan. 21, 1966 [Jan. 21, 1965; April 15, 1965], No. 2963/66. Heading A4F. In a suction cleaner a brushing roller 6 driven by a motor 1 is carried by arms 4, 5 secured to the motor casing 7 which is connected to the cleaner housing 2 by a hinge 3a, 3b, 3c about which the motor 1 and the brush 6 may be swung. The motor 1 also drives a suction fan 11 within the casing 7, which has a suction opening 15 so arranged relatively to an opening 16 in the housing 2 that when the connector of a suction hose is inserted into the openings 15, 16 the motor casing 7 is raised to lift the brush roller 6 from the surface on which the machine rests. In an alternative embodiment the motor casing may be raised by a manually operated rotary cam mechanism to lift the brush roller 6.
