Beat-up motions. -In looms of the type described in Specification 227,865, [Class 142 (ii), Looms, Kinds &c.], wherein the weft from a fixed bobbin 8 is inserted by a flexible arm or needle 9 formed from a. strip of steel fixed to an oscillating arm 11, the lay, comprising two posts 12 carrying the reed 13, is oscillated by grooved eccentrics 16 on the main shaft engaging pins 15, so that the lay is stationary for a large part of the period during which the weft is inserted.
