Abstract

158,006. Veluard, C. May 24, 1919. Pile-fabric looms.-Consists of improved pilecutting mechanism in pile-fabric looms in which the pile is formed over longitudinally extending wires. Each pile wire 15 is connected to an extending arm 22 of the body portion 18 of the cutting-device which is mounted on the breast beam 4 and is formed with top and bottom grooves 19, 20. Extending from the body 18 is an arm 24, the depending end 29 of which has a projection 31 extending beneath a bar 25 connected to the breast beam, the part 29 entering one of a series of grooves in the bar 25 and being held therein by a locking-member 32 entering a similar groove on the rear face of the bar. A member 35 is reciprocated in the grooves 19, 20 by a member 48 operated from the lay, and a knife, 37, mounted between the member 35 and the wall 21, is pivoted to a spring finger thereon. The pivot stud 38 extends beyond the knife into a slot in the wall 21. The knife 37 has a cutting-edge 39 and is oscillated during reciprocation by a pin 41 on the member 18 engaging a slot 40 in the knife. The wall 21 has a sharpening-edge 42 towards which the knife-edge is bevelled, a spring arm holding the parts in engagement and the knife body being concave.
