Signal lamps; lantern screens.-In a signal lamp comprising an electric lamp bulb with a filament in the optical axis of a projection lens and a number of opaque screens arranged concentrically about the axis of the lens, the filament is arranged eccentrically within the bulb, so that light proceeding from an outside source striking the lens in a, direction parallel to the axis and reflected from the surface of the bulb is intercepted by the opaque screens to prevent a phantom indication. In the form shown in the Figure, a bulb A has an eccentrically arranged filament 1 located at the focus of a doublet of echelon lens C<1>, C<2> and a number of concentric opaque cylindrical screens D are arranged between the outer lens C<2> and an outer cover glass E. The innermost cylindrical screen D<1> supports two flat ribs 9 intersecting each other at right angles, and the central portion of the inner surface of the cover glass E is provided with a number of horizontal prisms 12 so as to give an indication close to the signal.
