Abstract
279,720. Asseler, J. d'. May 2, 1927. Screw motors; mounting and supporting.-In a wind-wheel comprising a, wheel 10 with vanes 11 carried by a frame 15 rotatable on a tower 4 and turned to the correct position by a rudder on an arm 7, the frame is integral with a cage 16 of inverted conical or pyramidal shape, extending down a large part of the tower and turning with the frame on an axis parallel to or coincident with that of the tower. The cage turns on bearings. 17, 18 and the frame has rolled 5, 20 running on angle irons 3 at the top of the tower. The shaft of the wheel 10 turns in a bearing 8 and is inclined to the horizontal. It drives the shaft 13 through the gears 12, actuating a governor 14 to adjust the vanes 11 through suitable mechanism to produce as constant a rotary speed as possible.
