Abstract
279,692. Bennet, J. L., and Alder& Mackay, Ltd. Feb. 25, 1927. Liquid-level pressure gauges.-A gas pressure recorder of the wet hollow-float type is provided with means such as orifices for enabling the water level to be set at either of at least two predetermined levels. The tank b contains an inner case d soldered at the foot after the insertion of a gas inlet pipe e. The float a comprises a hollow drum freely moving between the tank and case on guides i which prevent rotation. The float is balanced and carries the spindle j of a pen working over a clockdriven recording drum q mounted on the cover o of the tank. The pen is of glass and is provided with an ink vessel k terminating in a tube l with a fine orifice. Two apertures r, f are provided normally closed by screw caps s, g. For ordinary use, the upper one is left sealed and the cap g removed, water being admitted, through a filling aperture h until it overflows through the orifice f. The cap is then replaced. Should the apparatus be required for pressures less than atmospheric the lower orifice is left sealed and the upper one r used to determine the datum level of water in the instrument.
