Medicines for internal use.-Solutions of the active principle of the ovary are purified by the use of a water-soluble nitrogen-free ether or organic ester of a polyvalent alcohol. According to examples a crude extract obtained in the usual manner by saponification of the fats and cholesterol ester of the ovaries is taken up in water and extracted with ether. The ether is expelled and the residue taken up with diethylin, diacetin, or 1 : 3 glycerine dimethyl ether. Water is added to precipitate cholesterol and, after filtration, the concentration of the solution is adjusted by further dilution with water.
