Abstract
278,971. Binks, M. J. W. April 2, 1927. Air - pressure sprayers.-Spray-producers of the type in which a projected stream of liquid is flattened by the action of opposed forwardly - intersecting air jets comprise concentric air and liquid nozzles 9, 6, the liquid nozzle 6 being of frusto-conical form and screwed into the liquid passage 2 of the body 1. In order to assist in the alignment of the parts the air nozzle 9 is internally coned to bear against the liquid nozzle 6 and is formed with a peripheral flange 15, and a smaller annular part 16 forward of the flange, and is attached to the body 1 bv means of a collar 13 flanged at 14 to engage the annular part of the air-nozzzle. The collar 13 is attached to the body 1 by means of a screwed ring 18 flanged at 19 to engage a flange 17 on the collar, the bore of the flange 18 being larger than the diameter of the collar 13 to allow limited lateral movement. The air nozzle is reduced at its rim end to form an annular air space 22 which communicates with convergent holes 20. Passages formed either on the outer surface of the nozzle 6 or the inner surface of the nozzle 9 communicate with an annular pasage 10 formed between a central opening in the air nozzle and a tubular extension 11 of nozzle 6.
