130,113. Binks, H. D. June 8, 1918. Nozzles for producing whirling sprays. - A spray having a tapered spray - producing chamber 1 is provided with a solid imperforate core 5 having vanes 6 on the exterior so shaped that it first subdivides the stream into different parts, then imparts variouslydirected motions to different portions of each of these parts, and then allows the streams to unite in the chamber 1. For this purpose, the vanes are provided with recesses 8, 9, Fig. 3, near the forward end and corresponding recesses 11, 12 at the backward end of the vanes. The tendency will thus be to produce on either side one non- rotating and two rotating jets of liquid, the commingling of which in the chamber 1 forms a spray.
