Abstract
278,201. Brawner, G. H., and Manley, L. M. Nov. 12, 1926. Pistons.-A piston comprises a head 11 having a portion 12 of reduced diameter surrounded by an internal sleeve 16 in the skirt. The sleeve abuts against a shoulder 14 and has a flange 17, which is secured to the extension 12 by screws. The skirt has a middle portion of reduced diameter and its edges are bevelled forming, at the upper edge, a passage 21 leading to lubricating channels 22. The edges of the skirt have inclined slits 28. In a modification, Fig. 5, the skirt is of pressed steel &c. and tongues 40, cut and pressed from the middle portion, are bolted to lugs 34 on the reduced extension 33 of the head. The edges of the skirt are slit and oil holes 39 are formed in the extension 33.
