277,941. Soc. de Paris et du Rhone. Sept. 27, 1926, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Starting prime movers.-An auxiliary-brush machine 1, serving as starting motor and lighting generator, is connected as shown in the Figure so that for starting, closing switch 8, the series field 6 is in series with the armature brushes 2, 3 and the battery 7, whilst the shunt field 5 is across the battery, with the armature windings between the auxiliary brush 4 and main brush 3 intervening. When generating, the make-and-break switch 9 is closed and the series winding is in series with the shunt winding and does not carry the dynamo output. The shunt winding 5 is stated to be operated when starting at a higher tension than the normal so increasing the starting torque.
