Indiarubber, seaming; preventing adhesion of unvulcanized surfaces.-A dusting preparation for preventing undesired adhesion of unvulcanized rubber sheets consists of a substance which loses its anti-cohesive properties when the sheets aredie-stamp welded with hot tools, whereby weakening of the welded seams is avoided. The loss of anticohesive tendency may be due for example to the melting of the preparation, to its solution in the rubber, or to its decomposition into volatile products. Examples of suitable substances are naphthalene, acetanilide applied in alcoholic solution, hexamethylenetetramine, thiocarbanilide applied in aqueous suspension, organic salts of metals such as fatty acid salts of lead, zinc, &c. The stamped articles may be treated with the known dusting powders or may be vulcanized in hot water to prevent adhesion.
