Abstract

277,609. Christians, G. W. Sept. 20, 1926, [Convention date]. Cauldrons. - Apparatus for use in sealing crevices with thermoplastic material comprises a feed pipe 11 connected to two feed pumps 5, 4, operable alternately and delivering the material from a heated charge at high and low pressures respectively. The pumps are preferably hand operated and are immersed in the tank 1 to which the heated material is supplied through a removable screen 2. The tank may be heated, and the pumps are preferably heated by a torch before use. The intake pipes 6 of the pumps have openings 8 provided with a finer screen. As shown, the pumps are operated by handles 26 each connected by a link 25 to a swivelling ring 24 on the pump cylinder. A discharge cock 28 and a pressure gauge 12 are provided and also a cock 13 by means of which the material may be circulated in the tank. The feed pipe 11 is connected through a horizontal swivel 17 to a discharge pipe 16 provided with a vertical swivel 22 provided with a union 20 for connection in turn to a series of pipes 21 leading to the crevices.
