Indiarubber &c., attaching to other articles.- Rubber coatings are produced on surfaces, for example of wood, metal, stone, leather, by spraying latex, and simultaneously evaporating the water from the latex by the use of a hot gaseous medium for atomizing the latex, with or without an additional supply of heat. The latex may be mixed with other substances, vulcanized, concentrated, &c. The pressure employed for spraying may be greater than that required for merely atomizing the latex. By varying the composition of the latex during spraying, films having varying characteristics may be obtained The process is suitable for the production of wall or floor coverings, roofing, paving material &c., and for uniting diverse materials with a rubber bond, by pressing the rubber-coated surfaces into contact and vulcanizing.
