Abstract
276,972. B³sching, W. Sept. 3, 1926, [Convention date]. Acids, concentrating and distilling.-An apparatus for denitrating waste acid is applicable also for the separate concentration of sulphuric or nitric acids. Vapours from a sulphuric acid concentration boiler C are led by a pipe b into a denitration column B in which they flow in countercurrent to a flow of waste acid from a preliminary heater F. Denitrated acid passes by a pipe c to the boiler C. The nitric acid vapours are washed and dried in column D with sulphuric acid and recovered in concentrated form in a cooler E. Uncondensed nitrogen oxides pass to absorption towers. A part of the sulphuric acid vapours pass up a column A, steam escaping from the top and concentrated acid falling back into the boiler C and thence into a cooler K.
