Description

Process for the regeneration of cleaning compounds for sulfur-containing distillation gases before their catalytic conversion into liquid synthetic fuels.
The parent patent no. 112996 describes a process for the regeneration of metallic or metal oxide cleaning compounds which are used to free distillation gases from impurities, in particular sulfur, before they are catalytically converted into liquid synthetic fuels. The process essentially consists in first passing a stream of hot air and then preheated water gas over the mass to be regenerated.
In the first treatment stage, the sulfur that has settled in the cleaning compound in the form of sulfides is used. removed as sulphurous acid. However, there is a certain risk that sulfate formation will occur in the procedure described, which must be avoided. For this purpose it is necessary to maintain a working temperature of about 6000 C in the apparatus.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that, before the regeneration is carried out by means of the heated air stream, a reducing gas is introduced into the apparatus, and the like. zw. The gas is allowed to enter at the outlet end of the device, where the cleaning compound is least loaded with sulfur, in order to achieve a zone at this end of the apparatus in which the cleaning compound can easily be returned to pure metal. If, for the purpose of regeneration, an air stream is then also allowed to enter at the outlet end of the apparatus, this will cause a sufficiently strong temperature increase in the zone mentioned to bring the entire apparatus from the zone with the lowest sulfur to the zone richest in sulfur to a temperature sufficient for regeneration.
