Receiving-sets, construction of.-A unit comprises a plurality of valve sockets k, Fig. 7, and a set of four plug terminals n on a housing d which contains inter-valve coupling instruments and connecting-conductors so arranged that by plugging the terminals n into the sockets of an existing valve holder of a wireless set, the valve holders k will be incorporated in the set in place of the existing valve holder. Fig. 1 shows a unit to give increased low-frequency amplification for replacing a low-frequency amplifying valve. Hightension for valve v<1> is obtained through a terminal t'. More than one stage of extra amplification may be provided. Fig. 2 shows a lowfrequency amplifying unit for replacing a detecting or dual amplifying valve. Leads t<2>, t<3> are connected to the output of the set and telephones are connected across terminals t<4>, t<5>. Separate high-tension for valve v<2> may be obtained by breaking the connection between t', t<3> and supplying an extra terminal. Transformer coupling may be employed. Grid-bias is obtained through a terminal t. A unit for giving additional high-frequency amplification is also described.
