Abstract
276,084. Round, H. J. May 21, 1926. Television; copying-telegraphs. - A bundle of quartz or glass rods or a bundle of tubes silverpolished on the inside is arranged with one end massed behind the picture to be transmitted, or behind the receiving screen, and the other ends of the rods or tubes are arranged to co-operate with one or more light-sensitive cells or with one or more variable light sources according as the apparatus is transmitting or receiving. Fig. 1 shows a transmitting arrangement. The ends 32 of the rods or tubes 3 are massed behind the picture 1 on which light is projected by a lens 2, and the ends 3<b> are arranged in a circle. The light-sensitive cell 4 carried by an arm 5 is moved in a circle beneath the ends 3<b>. Alternatively, a separate cell may be provided for each rod or tube, the current from each cell charging a condenser, and the condensers being discharged successively through a rotating brush. At the receiving station a light-source variable by the currents from the cell 4 is moved in a circle synchronously with the cell or brush, and the rods or tubes are arranged similarly to those at the transmitting station. Alternatively, a separate light-source may be provided for each rod or tube, each such source being controlled from a corresponding segment of a commutator traversed bv a brush moving synchronously with the cell or brush at the transmitting station.
