Abstract
275,998. Chamagne, G. J. B. Aug. 11, 1926, [Convention date]. Seaweed-treating furnaces.-In a furnace, for the carbonization of seaweed and marine algae, the material is fed on to an inclined hearth 3 and passes down under its own weight to a horizontal bed 9 where carbonization is completed. The ashes are raked through the door 11 into the cooling chamber 10, from which they are subsequently removed by the conveyor 15. The volatile products of combustion passing up the chimney 17 are subjected to the action of a high tension electric conductor 24. The heat liberated in the furnace may be recovered by means of water pipes 20.
