Abstract
275,969. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Aug. 13, 1926, [Convention date]. Incorporating paint ingredients. -- Cellulose ester or ether, oil or spirit lacquers are coloured by incorporating with them basic dyestuffs, which may also contain acid groups, together with complex acids or salts thereof capable of forming colour lakes with the dyestuffs. Suitable acids are phosphotungstic, phosphomolybdic, silicotungstic, and phosphotungstomolybdic acids. The dyestuffs and the acids may be added in solid form or in solution in organic solvents. When lacquers miscible with water are coloured, the dyestuffs and acids may be used in aqueous. solution. In examples (1) 0.5 parts of methyl violet B extra, is dissolved in 100 parts of a zapon lacquer containing 5 per cent of nitrocellulose with or without a plasticizer, and 0.5 parts of sodium phosphotungstate dissolved in 5 parts of denatured alcohol is added. (2) 0.5 parts of alkali blue B extra, is dissolved in 100 parts of a shellac spirit lacquer, and 0.5 parts of sodium phosphotungstate in 5 parts of denatured alcohol is added. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes alcohols, glycol and glycerol or their esters or ethers and acetone as suitable solvents in which to add the acids. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
