Abstract

275,952. Appareils et Evaporateurs Kestner. Aug. 10, 1926, [Convention date]. Solidifying films.-A cooling drum T on which a film of liquid or molten material from a trough N is solidified is coated, by a blowing process, with a film of impalpable powder, instead of being wetted or coated with grease, to prevent adhesion of the cooled material to the drum. The powder may be talc, carbonate of lime, sulphate of baryta or other substance chosen according to the nature of the liquid, and is blown on to the drum between the trough and the scraper C through a nozzle P<1> extending over the width of the drum. Surplus powder is withdrawn through an outer nozzle P<2> by a suction fan V<2>, which discharges into a cyclone separator S. The separated powder passes back into the feed hopper D and is delivered again to the nozzle P<1> by the pressure fan V<1>. The suction fan V<2> has a greater output than the fan V' and an air escape valve I is provided on the separator S.
