Abstract

Wireless tuning-apparatus, adjustment devices for.-The main control knob 7 is rigidly attached, by means of a plate 8, sleeve 3, and set-screw 6, to the spindle 5 of a variable condenser 1 or other instrument such as a variometer or variocoupler. The fine-adjustment spindle 2 is rotatably mounted by ball bearings 40 in the sleeve 3 and is fastened by means of a set-screw 31 and nut 25 to the fine-adjustment knob 32. Slidably but non-rotatably mounted on the spindle 2 'is a friction disc 12 having a peripheral part-circular groove with which engage the peripheries of three or more planet wheels 14. These are arranged cone-wise and run within a fixed circular rim 15 secured to the panel 16 by the engagement of a fork-shaped projection 17 with a fixed pin 18 passing freely through a part circular slot in the plate 8. The lower faces of the planet wheels 14 engage and drive a part conical disc 24 secured to the sleeve 3. The pressure between the engaging surfaces of the planet wheels and their associated parts is varied, and backlash prevented, by three-armed plate springs 26, 27 adjustable by means of the nut 25.
