Abstract

274,252. Gormley, A. J. C. June 10. 1926. Superheating by throttling.-A combined valve and steam drying device comprises a single or double seated valve member, each beat having a tubular extension provided with a series of wiredrawing apertures. The Figure shown the application of the invention to a locomotive regulator actuated by a crank G and connecting rod F. The two beats C, D. cooperated with seats c<1>, d<1> formed on members a<1>, a<2> which also receive the tubular extensions b<2>. Each member b<2> has a series of helically arranged tapered orifices b<5>, each provided with a wire drawing diaphragm preferably having a convergent-divergent passage. In a modification, the members b<2> are formed in two parts and a sleeve having the convergent-divergent orifices is clamped between them. In this form the upper beat is formed with a removable, seating ring. In another modification, the device is enclosed by a casing having a single inlet and one or two outlets.
