Abstract

274,160. Hesketh, B. March 19, 1926. Inductances.-In electrical inductances of the kind wound on cylindrical formers 1 with integral longitudinal ribs 2, portions 3 of the ribs are turned away at their tops to retain the winding in position leaving unflattened parts of the ribs projecting above, and protecting, the winding and the wall of the former is removed at 4 between the flattened portions 3. The portions 3 may have spaced or spirally pitched indentations or grooves to retain the turns of the winding in spaced positions. The ribs may be triangular, square or semi-circular in cross-section. Two windings 5, 6 may be connected between terminals 7, 10 as described in Specification 268,038 or a single winding may be used. The former may be of moulded ebonite and the portions 4 may be turned away by an internal cutting tool'. The Provisional Specification describes windings comprising a single layer with turns close together or several layers or one or more banks.
