Sound magnifying and directing appliances.-A sound-emitting device, such as an electric horn or loud-speaking telephone, is fitted with a detachable cover comprising inner and outer members 16, 17 which together form an annular radially-extending horn-like structure. A screw-threaded flange 19 on the inner member engaging with the exterior of the casing 11 secures the cover and clamps the diaphragm 14 against the end of the casing, whilst the outer member 17 is secured by rivets 18 engaging fingers 20. Dust may be excluded by a ring of wire gauze 25. In a modification, the inner member is concave and the outer member plane, an annular filling member being inserted between the inner member and the diaphragm. The chamber between the two members may be divided by radial partitions.
