Abstract

273,556. Shimamoto, S. Oct. 30, 1926. Composition fuel briquettes are made by steeping sawdust or other pulverized vegetable fuels in slaked lime whilst still hot; powdered coal is added and the mixture is moulded. The briquettes may be impregnated with heavy oil or other liquid fuel. Starch paste or the like may be mixed with the lime. In an example 4 - 4.5 kg. quick lime are slaked in 18 - 27 litres of water and 20-23 kg. sawdust, wood chips, chaff, &c. are steeped in the mixture the temperature of which may be raised by injecting steam. 10-14 kg. powdered coal are added and the mixture is pressed.
