Abstract
272,952. Treschow, M. June 17, 1926, [Convention date]. Toothed gearing.-In toothed gearing with aligned driving and driven shafts 1, 2 interconnected by gearing on two intermediate shafts 6<1>, 6<11>, all the shaft-axes lying in one plane, an Oldham coupling 14 or the like is provided to allow the driving or driven shaft to move at right-angles to the said plane to divide the drive equally between the shafts 6<1>, 6<11>. As shown, pins 12 on the shaft 2 and pins 15 on the rim 11 of the gearwheel 8 engage slots in the coupling-disc 14, but the flexible connection may be arranged between the wheel rim and hub or in the shaft 2, for example where the shaft is connected to the machine shaft 2<1>. Interengaging cylindrical surfaces 9, 10', 10<11> on the wheel 8, 71, 7<11> pre- - vent movement of the wheel 8 in the plane of the shafts, the wheel 8 being further constrained when the coupling is arranged in the shaft 2 by rollers or blocks engaging the faces of the wheel. The weight of the wheel 8 is sustained by a spring or weight supported roller 19, Fig. 3, acting on a surface 9 or on a bearing for the shaft 2. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the driving or driven wheel may have internal teeth. Two or more such gearing systems may be employed in a gear train. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
