Abstract

271,475. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. May 20, 1926, [Convention date]. Plates and films; emulsion coatings, preparing.-Gelatin or other colloid used in the manufacture of silver halide emulsions is enriched during its manufacture in its content of iminazole or derivatives thereof. Alternatively, iminazole or a derivative thereof, such as nitrobenziminazole, is added to the colloid before the emulsion is made, or to the emulsion itself either during its production, or when it is coated upon a support. The addition of such bodies in sufficient amount enables highly sensitive emulsions to be produced by employing colloids that ordinarily cannot be used because they produce fog before the emulsion has ripened to the sensitiveness desired. Degradation products of proteins such as histidine. iminazole alanine) may be so employed.
