Abstract

407,573. Coated fabrics. VOIGTLANDER & SOHN AKT.-GES., 7, Campestrasse, Brunswick, Germany. June 6, 1933, No. 16277. Convention date, June 6, 1932. [Class 140.] A composite film, in particular a photographic film, comprises a support of a cellulose acetate or a mixed ester thereof and a hydrophile colloid connected thereto by an intermediate layer comprising a hydrophile colloid and a cellulose ester material of the same type as that of the support. In an example, a photographic emulsion gelatine layer is united to a film base, composed of cellulose triacetate containing tricresylphosphate or other softening agent, by means of a solution containing gelatine, water, salicylic acid and cellulose triacetato or film base material in a solvent mixture of acetone, ethanol and methylene chloride. The cellulose ester material for the intermediate layer may be of the same type as that of the base, but of different properties, e.g. a low viscous triacetate may be employed for a base consisting of highly viscous acetate. In addition to gelatine, colloids such as agar-agar, albumen, gum arabic, isinglass or mixtures may be employed. Agar-agar may be coated upon a base prepared with gelatine.
