Abstract
270,743. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boveri, et Cie. May 7, 1926, [Convention date]. Pressure-regulating valves.- A reducing valve device is provided with a series of closure members of increasing cross sectional area so arranged that at any given time only one of the closures is in operation while the preceding smaller one and the succeeding larger one are closed. In the form shown in the Figure, three valves 5, 7 and 11 are arranged in parallel on the conduit 30 and are actuated by hydraulic pressure admitted through a pipe 23 acting on spring loaded pistons 18, 19 and 20, and controlled by a pressure regulator. Each of the valves 7, 11 is coupled to an auxiliary valve 21 so arranged that as each of the smaller valves reaches its full open position its actuating supply is interrupted to permit it to close, and transfer its duty to the next larger valve. The valves may be coupled by a series of cams arranged to open and close the valves in the required sequence. The invention may be applied to safety valves.
