Abstract

269,969. Large, A. L. Jan. 25, 1926. Plug couplings.-Electric kettles &c. are protected against overheating by a thermal device which causes the expulsion of one member of a coupling from its co-operating member when a. predetermined temperature is reached. The thermal device comprises a tube 15 which is soldered to a plug 17 and a coil spring 16 which, when the solder melts drives the tube 15 to the left, the tube then acting as a projectile and striking the detachable portion 14 of the coupling. This portion 14 carries two sockets 4 which are thereby disengaged from the pins 5 on the fixed portion of the coupling.
