Pneumatic-sucker fastenings.-A vacuum device for attachment to a smooth surface such as a shop window or motor-car windscreen, of the type described in Specification 213,637, for displaying an article or exhibiting a licence, comprises a dished plate of springy material, preferably sheet metal, with a rigid rim part A, B, and a flexible central part C, D. The rim may be corrugated, one depression A, together with the rim F, forming a seating for a rubber luting ring E and the other depression B dividing the rigid rim from the flexible centre. The flexible centre part may have an annular part D and a central dished part C. The material may be sufficiently springy to resume its normal shape after being pressed inwards, to produce the necessary vacuum, or it may be reinforced by a leaf spring G anchored at H below the corrugation B, and engaging a depression C' in the dished crown C. To allow egress of air when the device is pressed in, a bent wire, Fig. 3, or grooved strip, is put under or over the luting ring while 'the crown C is depressed and removed before it is allowed to spring back to its normal position. A notch F' in the rim allows such wire or strip to be inserted above the luting ring. A cardboard disc I prevents the luting ring from being forced inwards.
