Abstract

High-frequency machines; inductor-alternators; dynamos, cooling.-The induction coil 2 of a heating apparatus is supplied with current from a dynamo 1 operating at about 10000 to 20000 cycles, the coil being connected to a water jacket 9 on the machine for intercirculation of cooling water. A fan 14 cools the radiator 13 in the circulating system. The dynamo is excited by a shunt-wound generator 20. which may be regulated to over-excite the dynamo so as to assist correction of power factor. The rotary structure 28 is made with one hundred or more, poles and the armature conductors 30 are arranged in slots in the armature 29. Flanged plates 32 of chrome steel, the material known under the registered Trade Mark " Nichrome," or copper are arranged at the ends of the part 28.
