Abstract

407,149. Dynamo electric machines. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. Nov. 29, 1932, No. 33755. Convention date, Dec. 4, 1931. [Class 35.] Exciting.-An exciter for a continuous-current generator has the stator and rotor iron divided into two parts I, II of which the part I is selfexcited from a separate auxiliary armature winding d by means of a winding a fed through a regulator h, and the main circuit II is excited by a winding b fed from the self-excited circuit with or without a regulator, the main armature winding c embracing both fluxes. As shown, the regulator h controls the winding b and it may be such that the direction of the current in this winding is reversible to reverse the voltage E of the exciter. In a modification, the two exciting windings in series are controlled by the regulator and another field winding fed by the winding d excites the portion I. The parts I, II may be equal in size. The armature winding d is preferably inserted in enlarged slots at the base of the main slots. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a machine in which the flux in the part I is constant. The use of " regulating " poles for the part I is referred to also in connection with the arrangement shown in Fig. 1. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
