Abstract

268,680. Boltz, F. S. Nov. 13, 1926. Strainer separators; drums. - A centrifugal extractor for laundry work is provided with a basket made up of a number of compartment members hinged together on vertical axes and which can be utilized as a truck for the conveyance of the goods treated. A basket formed of three compartments A, B, C is shown and each compartment has five straight sides and one curved side 11 which forms the reticulated wall of the basket. Hinges 17 connect the compartments so that they can be arranged in line as shown in Fig. 4, or can be folded together to stand inside the basket frame 18 leaving a small space 19 as shown in Fig. 5. Two hangers 29 are provided on each compartment for convenience in lifting; a trap door 20 is provided in the base for discharge purposes and is normally held closed by a spring catch 28. One of the castors 26 mav be attached to the door 20 so that, it can only be opened when the basket is raised. A deflector plate 23 is arranged inside the compartment to direct articles to the discharge opening and a rod 24 hinged at its top end may be moved at its bottom end to prevent articles from sticking to the sides. In modifications of the invention, forms employing two, four, and six compartments of various shapes are described.
