Range-finders.- Instructional apparatus for teaching observers the use of range and heightfinders in a limited space consists of a combination of a range or heighb-finder 1 with a collimator 6 near to which is mounted a target 9 such as a photographic miniature. The light from the target 9 passes into the collimator 6 and thence into the rangefinder 1. The range or height-finder I is mounted on a pedestal 2 to move independently in azimuth in relation to the collimator 6, which is carried in brackets 5 counterbalanced by weights 7. The range-finder 1 turns in ball bearings in the rings 4. An ordinary range-finder having the ordinary centre prism combination replaced by a half silvered prism 8 may be used as the collimator and the deflecting prism reversed and operated bv gearing so that movement of the collimator simulates a target flying at a constant height.
