Abstract

821,522. Optical apparatus. PREYSS, E., and PREYSS, C. R., [trading as S.G.O.S. ERTELWERK FUR FEINMECHANIKI. Nov. 24, 1955 [Nov. 24, 1954]. No. 33746/55. Class 97(1) An optical sighting instrument such as a telescope has an optical component on which the position of the line of sight depends freely carried between objective and eyepiece upon a spring anchored in the instrument body so as to keep the line of sight substantially level if the instrument body is tilted within a limited range. As shown the optical component 1 which may be a prism, an optical flat or a graticule is supported by a spring 2 from the instrument body 3 so as to adjust the optical axis when the latter is tilted. Movement of the component 1 may vary an electric condenser 4 which control a circuit causing simultaneous movement of the objective. The component 1 may be supported by two springs and may carry adjustable weights by which the position of its centre of gravity can be changed.
