Abstract

268,430. Negretti, H. N., Negretti, P. E., Zambra, M. W., and Ibbott, H. W. Dec. 31, 1925. Thermometers.-A temperature indicator suitable for fitting into an oven door comprises a bimetallic element 1 composed of bars having different coefficients of expansion which are united by brazing &c. at their ends only and are drilled at 2. At one end 4 the bars are also drilled and slotted at 3 so that this end constitutes a rocking piece the movements of which are transmitted to the indicator. The element 1 is mounted in a diametral recess in the back of a thin metal casing 5 so as to be directly exposed to the heat of the oven and is loosely connected to this casing by a screw 18. The casing 5 is connected by distance pieces to another casing 6 from which it is insulated by asbestos &c. 11, the dial 8 and bezel 9 being carried by the casing 6. The movement is wholly supported by the element 1 on pillars 15 and is mounted in a frame having plates 16 with connecting pillars 17. The hand 21 is mounted on a spindle carrying a pinion 20 engaged by a quadrant 19 from which projects an arm 23 connected by a link 24 to an arm 25 fixed on a pillar 26 which is rigidly secured to the rocking piece 4.
